Waggoners Wells

Yesterday afternoon glenatron and I visited Waggoners Wells, a 17th century series of man-made ponds in a wooded valley just down the road from us. It's a National Trust reserve and is ridiculously pretty. I've visted before (and Ben is a regular), but not for about a year.

We found a sad tree.

And made a fortress by the falls.

Ben, stomping around like the giant he is.

Bright green canopy! Autumn hasn't come to the valley just yet.

There's half a forest in the bottom of the wishing well. I feel like there ought to be a story in that.

My guardian in the woods. :3

I'm going back to my parents' tonight and am staying there for nearly a fortnight. :| The first week is because they're in Spain visiting my Granny, and Pepsi and Beatrice need looking after; the second week is because Elf needed a rider for the first night of the Halloween spectacular - which isn't until that Friday, unfortunately. Oh wells. That will be my last job with them for the year, and after that I will be unemployed for reals.

those are such beautiful photos! That looks like such an amazing place! The sad tree reminds me of pocahontas, and those autumn leaves in the river with all the green, ugh, I'm so jealous!

ps: mumford and sons ftw!

"The sad tree reminds me of pocahontas" - omg, yes! I'd completely forgotten. It totally does.

Was this place featured in an episode of Skins, possibly s3, where there was some girl/girl action? Very recognizable.

Is it far from where you live?

Hmm, I don't know, sorry; I've only seen season 1 of Skins, and can't find any info about the area being used for filming. But then again, this part of the country is big on films (James Bond, Robin Hood, the new Thor etc. were all filmed nearby), so I guess it's possible!

Nah, it's about a 15 minute drive. I could cycle there if I wasn't so lazy.
