Songs What I Does Like: Chapter Four

More offerings!

"Land Of The Lost", Gormathon
Melodic death metal
Sweden

HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS BAND. Oh, the lulz. I've got to be honest, I'm mostly sharing this one for the hilarity. It's like ... they so badly want to be kvlt. I just want to pat them on the heads. I want to keep the vocalist as a pet. My favourite part of the video is from 1 minute onwards. Oh, and I do actually quite like this song. That chorus is excellent. As is the guitar solo. *puts hair over eyes and stomps around*

"If I Die In Battle", Van Canto
Germany
Hero metal a cappella

So glenatron and I were making dinner the other night with my MP3 player on shuffle, and Van Canto popped up. Ben became momentarily obsessed, which led to him looking up more of their stuff on YouTube, and led to me hearing this song - a new one of theirs, I only have one of their earlier albums. It's pretty awesome. You did read the genre tag right - they have a drummer, but the rest of the band is purely a cappella. Give them a listen (my favourite song of theirs is Last Night of the Kings, if you want more).

"Babel", Mumford & Sons
UK
Folk rock

Oki. So glenatron hates these guys with a burning passion, and to be fair I can see his point; their lyrical ability is ... somewhat curious. I think the reason it doesn't bother me is I've spent the past 10 years of my life obsessively listening to metal bands to whom English is not their first language, so dodgy lyrics aren't the be all and end all to me. :P Ha. This is my favourite track from their newest album. I bought it last night. Ben was displeased.

"Sunstorm", Chelsea Wolfe
USA
Dark folk/indie rock

I found this girl via a fellow metalhead, who described her as 'doom folk' - I'm not entirely sure how to class her myself, but that's a fairly accurate description. This is one of her lighter tunes ... until you pay attention to the lyrics, anyway.

"Ave Celia!", Troll Bends Fir
Russia
Folk metal/folk rock

...I HAVE FORGOTTEN GORMATHON ALREADY. THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. *dies* Now, many moons ago I had some music by a band called Troll Gnet El ... and I think these are the same guys. I think. Who knows. Thinking isn't something I can do anymore. This was too awesome. Oh, also, these guys are musically superb. Just saying. Disregard the 'screaming' part of the video title btw, I don't know what that's about - it's all clean vocals, male and female.

Oh, and rainechan - towards the end of that last video, there's an attractive man playing an enormous drum. Just so you know.

Edit: OH GODS, OH GODS. So I was obsessing over Troll Bends Fir AND THEN THERE WAS A JONNE TOO. LOOK. LOOK AT THAT GLORIOUS FINNISH BASTARD. <3 <3 <3 I want Korpiklaani to tour again. :( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHy4x1lOFtg&feature=share&list=UUX_JJMhrlA-3nazZiB1zI5Q

Haha, there was a Van Canto song I posted on fb a while back. Their remake of Metallica's Master of Puppets. :)

Also: Mmmm, drummer. <3
