Right - I didn't forget about FMS yesterday, but I didn't post because someone* had gone out for the evening and left their computer downloading an enormous file that totally ate the bandwidth for the rest of the household. So! It's another Folk Metal Monday. :)

Sticking with last week's Celtic theme, today we are revisiting German band SuidAkrA (I say revisit: apparantly they've not been featured yet? I know I was raving about their new album a little while back, but maybe that was in my main journal). SuidAkrA's style usually mixes melodic black and death metal in with their folk, so this song is very different from their usual sound. "Feats Of War", from their 9th album 'Crógacht', is very much on the folky side and features clean vocals from a female vocalist.

'Crógacht' is a concept album themed on the Irish folktale, Aided Óenfhir Aífe - a story of the hero, Cú Chulainn. I think that this song is about Cú Chulainn's meeting with Scáthach, the king maker, but don't quote me ... my knowledge of Irish mythology is limited.

Right, the Scathach part of the Cu Chulain mythos is the most interesting part for me because of where it happened and my unique theories relating to that...
