100 Photos Meme: day 8

I'm cheating again, but let's be honest ... how can anyone choose just one picture for this prompt? And this is by no means the definitive collection.

Clockwise from top left in no particular order: 1) The day I rescued a crow, and he became my friend for a few days until I sent him back to the wild; 2) when I visited that awesome rainechan and went to my first ever Ren Faire; 3) when we took the Shires down to a cold Norfolk beach one snowy day and rode in the sea; 4) when glenatron took me for a surprise trip on the Saxonia, before we became an item, and I GOT TO FREAKIN' STEER. LOOK AT EVERYONE TRYING TO SCRAMBLE TO SAFETY. AHAHAHAHAHA.

Day 8- A picture of the best moment of your life

The crow experience is like a once in a lifetime ordeal if even that. That makes it that much more interesting! :)

No, I don't; that was the one and only time! I've just never had the opportunity. Or money. :P My heart really belongs to the tall ships, anyway...

Do you sail? :D

I find that crow to be adorable and an amazing experience.

I also love the picture for the shire in the sea

Well it was a really cold, wet day and while trudging up the field I saw a crow on the ground ahead of me. He kind of flapped around as I approached and at first I assumed he was just being a typical crow, too lazy to actually fly, and then I realised that he couldn't fly.

I caught up with him and the poor sod was exhausted; just lay flat on his belly, wings spread, and didn't so much as flinch when I scooped him up and tucked him gently inside my jacket. I carried him all the way home and put him in a straw-lined tub, with some water and my mice's heatmat, covered him over so it was nice and dark and just left him to it.

I wasn't really expecting him to survive, but half an hour later I heard a tap-tap-tap on the tub's cover and, removing it, found the crow looking back at me. I picked him up and he shifted himself to sit on my wrist, for all the world like a tame bird! I offered him some of my frog's waxworms and he ate from my hand.

There didn't appear to be anything physically wrong with him, no wounds or anything, and his wings weren't damaged so I assumed he'd maybe just got too cold and wet (it was a really awful day).

Anywho, I kept him for a couple of nights, let him roam the house for short periods at a time, and made him special crow food. Once he was able to fly again, I set him free. :( He actually hung around to eat food I'd placed outside, with me sat next to him, before he flew away - there was no panic, it was like being handled by me was perfectly normal to him! Crazy.

I have photos of him here, if the link works:

That is so freaking awesome, what a great experience. I love crows and magpies and the like, they are such smart birds. Always wanted to hand raise one. After going Tower of London I now want a raven!!! Those things are MASSIVE!
