I had already been back to my parents' house since George died, but you know how it can take a while for your brain to fully realise that a childhood pet is gone; particularly when, for the last year of their life, you only saw them sporadically. When I arrived at the house last Thursday, I immediately looked for my cats; but Pimms and Loki weren't inside, so I found myself standing at the kitchen window, hopefully looking out at the garden to see if George was in her usual place by the pear tree. I was surprised that she wasn't there, even though the logical part of my brain hadn't been expecting her to be.

Last night, I was having a silly dream that involved my dad having a piece of bacon on some string that he was going to use to taunt the cats with. In the dream, I heard the cat flap go and looked down expecting to see Pimms or Loki - but it was George, and I sat down and gathered her up and hugged her, crying because I was so pleased she'd come back again. It was an, "Oh, there you are, Georgie!" moment.

It's made me tear up recounting that, but I'm honestly not feeling particularly melancholy; it's just been a little twinge in my heart for most of the day.

And on an unrelated note, here are a couple of photos from my walk today. I sold a necklace on Etsy and had to walk over to the Post Office to send it (it's going all the way to Australia, too! Awesome!).

I wish I could walk to the post office!

It must've been hard for you, expecting to see George only for the realization to finally hit you that she's really gone. (hugs) One of my childhood pets, Mousse, died of feline leukemia? I think? at a young age and I swear that I caught glimpses of her running through the house every once in awhile for years after that.

Aw, that's very bittersweet - I like the idea that maybe it was her, visiting you. :) *hugs*

Oh, by the way, I did get your email with your story! I will read it asap. :)

Yeah, I was also a huge ghost-freak at the time, so I might have been imagining it. (shrug) I like to think not, though.
Ooh, don't rush or anything. I hope you enjoy it. :D
