Oh dear. So I missed a Sunday completely, and now I am a day late for last week's! Hm. I will drink some mead and sacrifice some goats later. Or something.

So, glenatron enquired into the use of accordian in folk metal bands. Quite a lot of them do feature it; accordians are totally metal! Today I'm looking to the legandary Korpiklaani to demonstrate this. As they're not popping up when I type the name in my subject line, I'm guessing that I haven't already featured these guys? :o That's something of a crime, if so. More mead to sacrifice and goats to drink. Or whatever.

Korpiklaani are one of these bands that you really need to see live at some point. Every single member seems to be permenantly happy; and if their vast supply of drinking songs are anything to go by, I think we probably know why. :) They are also super friendly guys and play fantastic, happy jig pit music. Finland is basically amazing at producing metal bands.

I was having a hard time choosing a song to share, but I eventually went with this one because it's the first song I heard by Korpiklaani, and it turned me into a massive fan; so maybe it will do the same for you. Also, before you listen, I think that this YouTube comment pretty much sums them up perfectly:
"Love it how they utterly rape the English language and are utterly awesome while doing so."

You may also want to check out this accordian battle on stage by yet another Finnish band, Turisas: http://youtu.be/axaJWnF-KJg

That may be one of the silliest pieces of music I have ever heard.
