Comet (who I was on) became quite upset towards the end of the night and wouldn't stand still (we were posted either side of the church porch), I think because he was very hot under all that barding. He's usually a very good hoss. The ride home was scary: it was gone 7pm by then, so the sun had almost set, and we were on bay horses with no reflective gear and in black clothing. XD And I'm the sort of person who has a hi-vis tabard, leg wraps, tail guard, hat band, martingale etc. when riding in broad daylight. We had a convoy with us, though; a car in front with hazard lights on, and one following. But still. It went against every fibre of my being. :P
We'd just reached Elf's, and literally as we turned left through the gate we looked over our shoulders and saw a mass of blue flashing lights coming up the road. Elf said her first thought was that someone had called the police, haha. But no: it was a fire engine, and no sooner had we realised this then the sirens went on and both horses went ZOOM. Talk about good timing, though!! A minute earlier and we'd have still been on the road. Horses bolting into the stable yard is nowhere near as bad.
Today I walked into town (about 5 miles. I did it in an hour and 5 minutes. Google maps says I should do it in 1 hour 38 minutes. I WIN), bought an excessive amount of goat's cheese, and met up with
Elf on Boy.
Comet looks enormous! Haha! So does Boy, actually.
