A weekend of ponies.

It was another busy weekend for glenatron and horses, and as I and my camera tagged along I reckon this ought to be a mostly illustrated post...

On Saturday morning, Ben worked with William again - that big 16.2hh Welsh D.

William still has anxious moments.

But mostly he's a sweetheart.

I like that both their 'tails' are flicking out in opposite directions, hahah. :P

I love this one: they had been stationary, and then as Ben lifted his right leg to step forward, so too did William with his corresponding foreleg. It's not Ben mimicking the horse, it's the other way round!

And then there was an Incident. William spooked then spooked himself again and took off - check out that awesome power in those hindquarters.

William did several circuits in canter; I've no idea how Ben managed to hold on, but hold on he did. Note that both his feet are off the ground here. :P

William brought himself down eventually and they were friends again...

See, this is nice. The tail flicking in these photos is because of flies, by the way, rather than negative feelings from the horse.

That upright, anxious head carriage again (although I do really like this photo).

William after being turned loose. Unfortunately the camera battery was going by then, and I turned it on and snapped this just before he ran out of shot. Hence the rather odd pose, it was literally a point and click photo!

It's like his legs can't decide whether they want to trot or canter.

William has had enough of running around. :P

After William, we went over to Ben's yard to play with Cash for a bit.

I got to play too!

Poor Ben; he'd spent ages putting extra holes in his stirrup leathers for me, but they were still too long. And they won't go any shorter. :P

The new James Bond movie is being filmed nearby, and while we were in the arena two helicopters started circling the area - this one, and one with a big camera on its nose. They were fairly low! I'm assuming Mr Craig's stunt double was in this one.

On the way back we stopped to say hi to the cows, who Cash liked...

...until they made a noise.

Cash being gorgeous in the field.

Cob-hugging time!

On Sunday, Ben had more lessons with little Artie first and Georgie second. I didn't take many photos and the ones I have are no good for sharing; so have some self-indulgent photos of myself, when we went out for a hack at the end of teaching. I was allowed to ride Bob, which was cool and very kind of his owner.

With Bob's owner on Georgie.

Then between Ben teaching and me having to catch the train home, we managed to squeeze in some Zorro time. For a horse who has been out of work and on box rest/restricted turnout for a few months, he was remarkably well-behaved.

Well ... mostly well-behaved.

So not only does Zorro have the karkadann attitude ... but look, here he even has Corbeau's eyes! :D

Zorro decides to show Ben how it's done.

So ya. It's the National Shire Horse Society spring show this weekend, and I'll be helping out Thursday and Friday. Hopefully I'll be around on the Saturday, too, but I don't know yet if I'll be able to get the time off work.

Either way, I expect there will be pictures!

Edit: I need technical help! I was trying to make this post last night when , half-way through, Flickr suddenly stopped allowing me to right-click pictures (I was opening them up in a new tab before copying their location). I refreshed and now I can't view any photos on Flickr - even though everything else on the website, including my user icon, loads fine. I finished this post on my parents' PC, but now I look at it again on my Netbook, I can't see any of the photos I put in it! Can you see them? I don't understand. D:

The pictures look great to me! Nice to see you riding with you're stirrups at a decent length, too ;p

A decent length?! I took my feet out of the stirrups, and they were at the exact same length as they were when they were in the stirrups!

So the stirrups were at the length your feet reach to, as they should be!

No, they should not be. How am I supposed to rise to the trot if I can't actually stand up?

Also, never mind the stirrup length, I used the wrong version of "you're" there.

Sad times :(
