The Burghley Weekend

Right, so, photo post! :) Last weekend was a busy mix of visiting glenatron (band practice, ponies, teaching) and glenatron visiting me (ponies and Shires). Sunday and the Bank Holiday Monday was the Burghley Game & Country Fair - yes, that Burghley! I've been spectating at the annual horse trials for years as it almost always coincides with my birthday, so it was fantastic to actually be able to ride there. I reckon Macey could've taken those jumps, no problem. We certainly wouldn't incur any time penalties. XD

I also got to see Magic again, who is now almost 11 months old! :D

Zorro hoofing around in the rain on Saturday morning.

This is a pose that needs to be sketched!

A very dainty little porcelain rear from Cash. :)

XD Love this one. It's cold enough to make out Zorro's breath; it looks like he's breathing a poison cloud over poor little Cash.

Ben riding Georgie in the afternoon.

Grumpiest mare!

Mare has a roll.

All riding photos are courtesy either of glenatron or my Mum. :)

I love this one - Ben's caught us just as we all turn together to come across the arena.

Me and Macey. He was excitable the first day, though no more than usual; but he was really bloody strong on Monday. Pulled my flippin' arms out.

It was Henry's very first riding display, as he's only recently been backed. He's the one at the end here, ridden by Elf. Doesn't he look gorgeous?

The whole team. I'm letting the side down here, as I've let Macey get half a pace ahead of Henry.

Hey! Who knew Sleipnir was a Shire Horse? :P

Warming up before the first display, with Harvey and Boy on either side so that Henry gets used to having other horses so close - jangly tack and all.

I don't actually know whats going on here - we're in the arena, but don't seem to be in any formation! All displays ran perfectly, so this isn't a blooper...

Ben arrived minutes before our final display on Sunday, having bravely battled horrific traffic all the way there. Huzzah!

Love this one.

Me and Macey (doing his goon face), with Burghley House in the background!

Heading down to the arena as the scurry ponies come back.

Me and Macey, Elf and Henry, with Burghley House behind! :)

Macey is about 18.2hh, maybe a little bigger ... I have to stand on tiptoe to unplait him. Ben just goes ahead and does it.

Harvey never walks onto the lorry when he can just jump on...

I taught Ben how to woodflour the feathers. He did a great job!

Nessa's niece got to have a ride on William between displays; Ben was hired as official photographer.

Ben and Pepsi on Sunday evening. <3

I love how she's looking RIGHT at me ... "Oh, do you want to ride me? I'M GOING TO ROLL IN THE WET MUD JUST IN CASE."

Ben punched Pepsi and she fell over. True story.

Bea loves Ben.

Steph bringing Macey and Cooper back to the yard. Macey's got his blue eye turned towards the camera here, I love how it looks.

Horace! Who had the weekend off, because Henry took his place.

Magic with her Uncle Macey! :D

Omg so cute. <3

Poor little bum-high baby!

Off to annoy Uncle Cooper.

She's growing up so fast!

And a Macey, to end the weekend with. <3

Loving Georgie's markings.

She's of polish origin so I don't know if she is part Appy or whether she comes from the type of colour stock that the Appaloosa came from originally. She's certainly interesting and just such a lovely horse...
